Copper Repipe or Pex Repipe?
If you are thinking of doing a copper repipe, you may want to know more about Pex piping. Most homeowners are going with Pex pipe these days. Copper was the way to go for a lot of years because it did not rust or build up on the inside and restrict the flow or pressure. The newer way of doing Re-Pipes is with Pex pipe, its a plastic pipe that will expand and contract with the temperature around it. The pipe is also very quite and holds in the heat unlike copper. The problem with Pex pipe is most people do not trust it because they just don’t know anything about it. Most repipes we come across are because we did a leak detection on a slab leak and found it would be best to do a repipe. Believe it or not, we have repiped homes that have copper pipe because the copper is in bad shape from the soil conditions.
